The Aligner Pliers Tear Drop is designed for one of the more fiddly moments in clear aligner therapy: creating a precise elastic hook reservoir at the gingival margin, exactly where the aligner needs one. Rather than distorting the aligner material or guessing at placement, the tear-drop tip forms a clean, consistent reservoir every time — which matters both for how well the aligner seats and for how comfortably the patient can manage their own elastics day to day.
Once the reservoir is formed, the same tapered tip helps hold the elastic in place as the aligner is seated, so the elastic doesn’t slip or twist during placement. That’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a fast, confident chairside adjustment and a fiddly one — and it’s also what makes the aligner easier for the patient to handle correctly once they’re managing elastics on their own between visits.
