The 23/Williams Expro combines a #23 Shepherd’s Hook explorer with a Williams periodontal probe in a single double-ended instrument. The #23 explorer end provides sharp tactile feedback for caries detection in occlusal pits, fissures, and restoration margins. The Williams probe end is marked at 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10mm — deliberately omitting the 4mm and 6mm marks. Since healthy gingival pocket depth typically falls in the 3–4mm range, this gap makes it easier for clinicians to distinguish a normal sulcus from an abnormal pocket depth at a glance.
Crafted from surgical grade stainless steel, both working ends stay thin and break-resistant without becoming brittle, giving clinicians reliable, long-lasting tactile performance through repeated clinical use.
